Google Chrome OS. The computer on the web

15 December 2009 Leave a comment

A little bit late but I have just noticed that Google Chrome OS (http://www.chromium.org/chromium-os ) has been Open Sourced. The idea is simple: more and more we user the internet for everything so, do we need a regular Operating System anymore? Well, I think “yes” would be the right answer but “googlers” has not the same opinion about that. If they are right, computers as we know today could suffer a truly revolution. Microsoft has already made their first steps on that direction offering some of their Office products on the web and providing cloud services on Azure Platform…

Is that the right choice? Will Google be right again?

JAVA EE 6 is here

11 December 2009 Leave a comment

Good news for java developers community. JEE final release spec has been published yesterday. It includes some very interesting new features such as: JSF 2.0, new build-in dependency injection, WebBeans/CDI, bean validation… Some of them, imho., introduce some “complexities-for-free” not needed in many cases but, stuff like bean validation, gives facilities to JEE developers to follow good architectural principles (and avoids extra-work).

Here you have the URL for the spec: http://jcp.org/en/jsr/summary?id=316

Now, it’s time to wait for vendors to offer these new features in their application servers. I’m excited about this.
