Business Activity Monitoring. Tool or home-made?

Hi,

Currently I’m working on the health eReceipt Project for the Government I work for. The concept is simple: when someone goes to a doctor and he finds something needing some medicine, the doctor does not have to give the patient any paper. Instead of that, he/she inserts the data on an Information System associated with that person.

After that, he/she goes to a pharmacy, identifies his/herself and the pharmaceutical can access to his/her information and gives the medicine he/she needs.

To get that simple goal, there are many processes and information systems involved and it’s a great opportunity to be innovative. We are willing to deploy new Data Base version and clustered architecture, new Business Intelligence Suite… and many other new software. Exciting, isn’t it? Our client is able to make that investment because this could be the seed for the new health information systems in the future. It’s time to innovate. Lucky to be here now!

The last piece we are willing to test is some Business Activity Monitoring software (see Business Activity Monitoring). The purpose of this kind of software is to monitor on-line how your business is behaving, define rules, alerts.. We need to get that information, but I think we are being too innovative and the technological risk is increasing. Maybe this could be something we could make ourselves… we will see.

Any experience about that appreciated.

Bye!
