Is there a platform to rule them all?

Nowadays every user seems to be able to have opinion about technology issues. If you have one account on facebook you are the master of social networks. If you are a “twitterer”, the T-Shirt you are wearing must be a bird over the “Wordpress” tomb, and so on and so on. Technology is inside our lives and we use it more and more but, are all of us experts on technology or we are just “fans” of what we are using?

Is there a platform/product to rule them all? I don’t think so. For instance, WordPress is a great tool but, is this the best platform to build a portal? Same thing to Facebook, Google Sites, etc.

The most important thing, and the first one we must do, is thinking about our needs. The second step is evaluating platforms to cover those functional requirements. These are the steps and we shouldn’t modify the order of them.
